All About Us..

What we do... Where we are...

Eldorado Vol. Fire Department, proudly protects 3000 people in Schleicher County. An area of 1330 square miles. We operate out of one station. Most of our calls are Grass Fires or accidents. In dry conditions it is very important that everyone is aware of the conditions. When either burning trash or a prescribed burn. Although EVFD is quick to respond, sometimes it is 25 - miles to the fire. So most of the area is a rural area.

Eldorado Volunteer Fire Department is located about 45 miles south of San Angelo Texas. The fire hall is located about
1/2 mile (turn left) from the red light at 277 S. physical address is
305 Murchison.

2006 2000
Fire for 2006 - Lots of grass fires, due to the extreme drought conditions. But are year was stared off with a house fire & that always starts anyone off wrong. We also lost another house later on, so not a real good year.  But throughout the year we had a notably safe year. Several 10/50's & with  a few fatalities in the county.   We also suffered the loss of another fireman this year, although not on duty at the time. Albert Martinez will always be remembered for his service with our support vehicle (36). Always there for those long fires, with groceries & drink. We honored Albert at our annual  Christmas dinner & presented his son Louis with the Fireman of the year Plaque. We miss you Albert..

2000 was not one of our busiest years, a total of 74 fires calls. Grass fires in with a total of (24). Our house fires we
had only (5) With minimal damage. Tank battery or oil related was only (3) These are always our most dangerous, but through it all we had no injuries. Accidents always are difficult to go to weather it's the removal the injured, or controlling the scene. One thing that we have inherited are bee call, with a total of (9)

2002

2003

2002 Has started out as a busy time for us. Several 10/50's
Not many grass fires due to our extreme drought condition. 11 of our members completed a HAZMAT
Class for the operation level. We all did well , 24 hours on our own time. But the noon meal was great.
Our Spring convention For HCFA was held in Eldorado.
Everything was great except the weather. At this point we are replacing the Generator at the county tower, so the Fire Department frequency will be available in a power outage situation. We finished up 2002 with a big grass fire, we had some problems, but no injuries.

2003 has started out rather slow, several 10/50's, but no serious fires as to date. We got a grant from TX. Forrest Service for a new Tanker # 39 for around $86,000. It was a 10% matching funds so we paid better than $8,000. It was ordered & complete in May & we have already received & put into service. Se Picture On Truck Page. We have received 4" of rain in May, so we hope that will help the drought conditions, & the Grass fires to a minimum. Our FEMA grant was also approved. We got a Air Machine & 15 new SCBA Air Packs. The rest of the year wasn't to eventful as far as Fires go, But we had a tragic loss of a Fireman In a church bus accident. Domingo Pina. We honored him at the Christmas party in December & gave him Fireman of the year. Received by his son Danny. We also signed Domingo's helmet & presented it to Danny.
